A native of Waynesboro, Virginia, Cory Alexander attended basketball power Oak Hill Academy where among other honors, he was named a McDonald's High School All-American and Parade Magazine First Team All-American in 1991. In addition, he was Mr. Basketball of Virginia and the Gatorade Virginia High School Player of the Year.
 
Cory matriculated at the University of Virginia, where he was an All-ACC point guard helping the Cavaliers to a 1992 NIT Championship. As a sophomore, he guided UVA to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, was named to the First Team All-ACC Tournament Team and earned the University of Virginia Cavalier of the Year award.  As a senior in 1995, Cory was a team captain and again named the Cavalier of the Year while his team ended its season with an NCAA Elite Eight finish.
 
Professionally, Cory was selected in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs as the 29th pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. He also played for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Virtus Roma in the Italian League and Euroleague, as well as the Roanoke Dazzle where he earned First Team All-NBDL honors. Cory returned to the NBA to finish his career with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2005.
 
Cory is currently a college basketball television analyst for ESPN and the ACC Network, as well as serving as a guest analyst for Washington Wizards Postgame Live. He also hosted Havoline's Kings of the Court, an ACC Network series for which he won a Midsouth Regional Emmy Award. 
 
To pass on his knowledge of the game and teach life lessons through the sport, he started Cory Alexander Basketball School in Richmond, VA in 1995. Cory has also served as Assistant Coach for USA Basketball’s Junior National Select Team,  Court Coach for the 2014 U17 World Championship team, and as a Head Coach for Team Takeover’s U16 team, members of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Cory has also worked as an Assistant Coach at  Oak Hill Academy. 
 
Cory’s dynamic career playing for and with some of the best coaches and players in the world coupled with his experience as an analyst and coach of the nation’s elite young players, makes him an ideal teacher of the game of basketball.
